ViPR 2.2 - Add Data Protection Systems to ViPR

Overview

A system administrator can select Physical Assets > Data Protection Systems to add a data protection system, such as EMC RecoverPoint, to ViPR.

ViPR also supports data protection using VMAX SRDF remote application.

After you add a data protection system to ViPR , you can select that system to provide data protection when you create your block virtual pools. The data protection system that you select protects the data of any block volumes that you created from those block virtual pools.

Collect EMC RecoverPoint site information

When you add an EMC RecoverPoint system to ViPR, supply certain configuration information and credentials.

Before you begin

You need access to the required RecoverPoint information.

Procedure

  1. Obtain the following information:
    Setting Value
    RecoverPoint site management IPv4 or IPv6 address or hostname  
    Port  
    Credentials for an account that has the RecoverPoint administrator role to access the RecoverPoint site

Add data protection system

Add data protection systems to ViPR.

The following steps describe how to add a data protection system to ViPR using the ViPR UI.

To use the REST API to add a data protection system to ViPR see the Add a Data Protection System using the ViPR REST API article.

Procedure

  1. In Administration Mode, select Physical Assets > Data Protection Systems.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Type the data protection system Name.
  4. Select the data protection system Type.
  5. Type the fully qualified domain name or IP address of the Host.
  6. Leave the default or type the Port.
  7. Type user credentials that have system administrator privileges.
  8. Click Save.
