Overview

The SolutionPack for EMC ViPR optimizes your use of the EMC ViPR SRM Software-Defined Storage Platform. The SolutionPack provides a global view via the dashboard of the underlying EMC ViPR infrastructure. It provides reporting, chargeback, and dashboard information to your tenant using the built-in multi-tenancy functionality of the EMC M&R portal.

This article applies to EMC ViPR SRM version 3.5.1.

Installing the SolutionPack

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. Log in.
  2. Click Administration.
  3. Click Centralized Management.
  4. Click SolutionPacks.
  5. Select SolutionPack Center.
  6. Select the SolutionPack for EMC ViPR in the Browse and Install SolutionPacks screen.
  7. Click Install.
  8. In Data Collection, in the Select the components to install window select the Collector host.
  9. In Events, select the Primary Backend host.
  10. In Reports, select the Frontend host.
  11. Click Next.
  12. In the Data collection window, select a value for Data Collection.
    If you select Add a new data collection, type information about the data collection.
    • Failover-Filter must be enabled, which is the default.
    • In HostName or the IP address to send data to, type localhost.
  13. Leave Enable alerting on data collected checked.
  14. Select a value for Alerting on data collection.
    If you select Add a new Alerting on data collection, type information about the alerting configuration.
    • In Alerting Backend the hostname or IP address, select the Primary Backend host.
    • Alerting Backend data port must be set to the port on which alerts will be collected by the Primary Backend Host.
  15. In Event server hostname or IP address identify the Primary Backend host.
  16. In Event server port number, enter the port for the Primary Backend host. The default port is 22000.
  17. Leave Enable Topology Backend on data collected checked.
  18. Select a value for Topology Service. If you select Add a new Topology Service, type information about topology queries.
    1. Select a value for Web-Service Gateway.
    2. If you select Add new gateway, type information about the gateway.
  19. Click Next.
  20. Click Click to show the device questions.
  21. In the ViPR Configuration pane, enter the public virtual IPv4 address and credentials for an account with the System Administrator role for the ViPR server from which you want to collect data.
    You can add additional ViPR instances by clicking the plus sign (+) on a ViPR Configuration pane.
  22. Configure ECS or Commodity Hardware:
    1. Select use advanced settings.
    2. Select collect ViPR fabric data.
  23. Select a value for Event database.
    If you select Add a new Event database, type information for the event database on the Primary Backend host.
  24. Type the Event server port number for the event database. The default is 22000.
  25. In Administration Web-Service Instance in the Reports window, select the Frontend host.
  26. Click Install.
  27. Click Ok once installation is complete.
    Performance data will displayed in about an hour.

Updating the SolutionPack

Procedure

  1. After core modules are updated and the SolutionPack is ready for update, upload the license for ECS Add-on for EMC ViPR SolutionPack.
  2. Update the SolutionPack blocks.
    In case the SolutionPack is updated before uploading the license for ECS Add-on, you can upload the license after SolutionPack update and then reconfigure the data collection block of the SolutionPack for EMC ViPR.
