Overview

This article explains how to install and configure the SolutionPack for EMC Isilon. The SolutionPack for EMC Isilon optimizes service availability for the EMC Isilon scale-out NAS storage solution. The SolutionPack enables you to see and understand performance and utilization across EMC Isilon devices in real-time, to know which node is the bottleneck in a cluster, what the peak/busy hours are, and more.

This article applies to EMC ViPR SRM version 3.5.1.

Installing the SolutionPack

SolutionPack for EMC Isilon 3.5 is not compatible with previous versions, so historical data collected will be lost.

Procedure

  1. Log in.
  2. Click Administration.
  3. Click Centralized Management.
  4. Click SolutionPacks.
  5. Select SolutionPack Center.
  6. Select the SolutionPack for EMC Isilon in the Browse and Install SolutionPacks screen.
  7. Click Install.
    The steps below assume a typical four VM deployment.
  8. In the Data Collection field of the Select the components to install window, select the Collector host.
  9. In the Reports field, select the Frontend host.
  10. Click Next.
  11. In the Data collection window, select a value for Data Collection.
    If you select Add a new data collection, type information about the data collection. In > Hostname or IP address to send data, use localhost on port 2020, which is the Collector host where the Load Balancer Connector is installed.
  12. Leave Enable alerting on data collected checked.
  13. Make a selection in the Alerting on data collection field.
    If you select Add a new Alerting on data collection to choose a different alerts destination, use the Primary Backend host as the > Alerting Backend hostname or IP address.
  14. Leave Enable Topology Backend on Data Collected checked.
  15. Make a selection in the Topology Service field.
    If you select Add a new Topology Service:
    1. Type the Primary Backend host as the destination for Topology information.
    2. Select a value for Web-Service Gateway. If you select Add new gateway, use the Primary Backend host as the > Web-Service gateway hostname or IP address.
  16. Click the link: Click to show the devices questions.
  17. Click the Add button (+) to add a device.
  18. In the Cluster hostname or IP address field, type the hostname or IP address of the SmartConnect service, or of any node in the cluster.
  19. Type the username (default is admin).
  20. Type the password.
  21. Click the Add button (+) again to enter information for additional Isilon clusters.
  22. To override polling values, click Use advanced settings. This is an optional step.
  23. Click Install. The SolutionPack installation begins.
  24. Click OK when installation is complete. Performance data will be displayed after a couple of collection cycles.
