ViPR SRM 3.7 – What is ViPR SRM?
Table of Contents
ViPR SRM is a software solution that provides multi-vendor capacity, performance, and configuration dashboards and reports for traditional and software-defined storage resources.
ViPR SRM provides detailed relationship and topology views from virtual or physical arrays as well as virtual storage technologies like VPLEX, IBM SVC, and ViPR Software-defined Storage. Performance trends across the data path help storage teams understand the impact traditional and software-defined storage have on applications. Dashboards present capacity consumption and trends, identifying where and how capacity is utilized and when more will be required.
Using ViPR SRM, administrators can continuously validate compliance with an organization's best practice rules and the EMC Support Matrix. Compliance reports help ensure that the environment is always configured to meet service level requirements.
With this information easily obtainable, storage teams can truly optimize their storage environment to improve their ROI.
The following introduction to ViPR SRM shows the reporting interface and some of the many features in ViPR SRM, including operational alerts, compliance reporting, and topology maps.Back to Top
The EMC M&R platform (formerly known as Watch4net) provides the core modules for an out-of-the-box monitoring and reporting solution that can be customized and scaled based on your environment and performance requirements. The platform is enhanced and customized with SolutionPacks that support a wide variety of EMC and third-party devices, hosts, and networks.
EMC M&R is core-embedded software technology that is common across EMC ViPR, ViPR SRM, and Service Assurance Suite. By using common technology, EMC provides customers with a consistent look, feel, and experience as they use these products together to manage their data center. The common technology also simplifies deployment, ongoing maintenance, and resource utilization.Back to Top
