VMAX3 + zDP: THE WORLD'S 1ST DASD WITH PROTECTION FROM LOGICAL CORRUPTION
TRUSTED VMAX3 and VMAX ALL FLASH STORAGE
GLOBAL, VIRTUAL, DISK-BASED MAINFRAME DATA PROTECTION
Mainframe environments run extremely demanding mission-critical operations and are critically dependent on High Availability DASD and virtual tape storage. Expertise to manage to manage enterprise-class storage is declining while new data from mobile applications is being stored on the mainframe is increasing. This creates a situation that that is becoming harder to manage with traditional storage.
EMC mainframe solutions, VMAX3, VMAX All Flash, Disk Library for mainframe, and Connectrix family are trusted in mainframe environments to deliver the highest levels of innovation, performance, and availability.
The EMC VMAX family VMAX3 and VMAX All Flash family are high-performance, highly available and reliable storage solutions for mainframe environments. The VMAX3 is a hybrid array, supporting a mix of both spinning and flash drives for both open and mainframe workloads with three models: 100k, 200k and 300k. The 100K scales up to 2TB of cache and 1,440 drives while the VMAX 400K is in a class by itself providing the highest levels of performance and scaling up to 16TB of cache and 5,760 drives. With Enterprise Flash Drives and Fully Automated Storage Tiering for Virtual Pools (FAST VP), the VMAX3 family automatically optimizes performance for all mainframe applications at the lowest TCO.
The new VMAX All Flash models are the fastest performing EMC DASD with just a single storage tier. Model 450F scales up to 8TB of cache and 960 flash drives while the model 850F scales up to 16TB of cache and 1,920 flash drives.EMC array-based replication products are recognized industry-wide as delivering the best availability. SRDF and TimeFinder are foundational technologies to ensure high availability, while AutoSwap and Geographically Dispersed Disaster Restart (GDDR) provide continuous availability and automate disaster restart for mainframe environments.
EMC Disk Library for mainframe (DLm) is the industry's first complete, self-contained tape-on-disk system for use in mainframe environments. It's unique in that it concurrently supports primary and deduplication storage in a single, manageable solution and dynamically directs tape files to the most appropriate storage on a file-by-file basis. The DLm supports all mainframe tape use cases resulting in significant savings on data center floor space without compromising data protection, reliability, performance, or functionality. The latest release of DLm incorporates a feature called "Global Virtual Library (GVL)". GVL enables two DLms to have visibility as well as read-write access to tape cartridge volumes contained in either the local or remote library. Additionally, GVL enables tape workload balancing between two DLms and provides for the swapping of production and disaster recovery site DLms for any user-defined period of time. The EMC Connectrix family offers a wide range of FICON directors with the latest 16Gb connectivity and best TCO.
