Photographs, diaries, film, letters, ancient writings, music, and visual art are all part of the world's information heritage. Yet many of these historical documents and cultural artifacts are at risk of disappearing. EMC is dedicated to supporting efforts by individuals and organizations worldwide to preserve and protect these vital pieces of our history.
Through the EMC Information Heritage Initiative, EMC works with initiative partners to provide hardware, software, expertise, financial assistance, and recognition to those who use digital tools to preserve the world's heritage and make it available via the Internet for research and education. On a more localized level, the EMC Heritage Trust Project recognizes the importance of individual community-based preservation projects by providing annual cash grants to qualified applicants. Both programs further the crucial effort to make sure the world's information heritage—in whatever form or location it may be—is protected for future generations.
