High Availability and Integrity Layer

While PORs allow clients to test the availability of their data, they provide no means of recovery in the event of data loss or provider failure. Applying the principles of RAID to cloud storage, the High Availiability and Integrity Layer (HAIL) provides recovery mechanisms by distributing data across several cloud providers. The loss of data at one provider can be detected, using mechanisms similar to PORs, and then recovered from, using the redundant data stored at the other providers.
