This fall, the IT Leadership Program participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes event at Six Flags New England. The ITLP team consisted of both ITLPers and friends. Together they received such great support from the EMC Community, friends, and family. They surpassed their goal twice over the course of fundraising with a final total of $2,520!
The walk took place on a beautiful Sunday morning in October. Before the walk began, there were a number of guest speakers such as the JDRF Lead that organized the event, the President of Six Flags, and a young girl who suffers from type 1 diabetes. In addition, pictures were taken, breakfast snacks were served and awards were given out for a t-shirt contest. Guess who won best corporate t-shirt…? EMC!
The walk was 1.5 miles through the theme park. The ITLP walked proudly as a team holding their best corporate t-shirt sign as seen below. After the walk everyone was invited to the parking lot for hot dogs and snacks. Following lunch, the ITLP spent the day riding roller coasters and enjoying Six Flags' Fright Fest. The event was a great success and the ITLP is grateful for all of those who gave generous donations. This is just an example of how the ITLP gives back and also has a great time together.
