Patricia Florissi

Patricia Florissi is Vice President and Global Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Sales. As Global CTO for Sales, Patricia helps define mid and long term technology strategy, representing the needs of the broader EMC ecosystem in EMC strategic initiatives. Patricia also acts as the liaison between EMC and our customers and partners, to foster stronger alliances and deliver higher value to EMC clientele. Patricia holds the honorary title of EMC Distinguished Engineer, having been nominated in October 2007.

Patricia joined EMC in February 2005 via the System Management Arts (SMARTS) acquisition as a Distinguished Technologist in the Ionix business unit, and became the CTO for Ionix in November 2005. As CTO, Patricia was responsible for defining, and communicating the medium- to long-term vision EMC would embrace for delivering solutions to automate the management of Information Infrastructure resources. Patricia was appointed Strategic Initiative Leader for Governance, risk and Compliance (GRC) in August 2008, where she was responsible for leading the research, design, execution, and communication of EMC’s GRC vision and strategy. Patricia was appointed Americas CTO for Sales in January 2010, Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) CTO in March 2011, and Global CTO for Sales in July 2012.

Before joining EMC, Patricia was the Vice President of Advanced Solutions at Smarts in White Plains, New York. In that capacity, Patricia was responsible for researching emerging technologies and for defining the strategy that Smarts would take in bringing solutions to market to address the challenges introduced by these technological advances. Patricia led the research, design, and first release of over half a dozen products. These have been driving millions of dollars in revenue and still remain in the market today.

Patricia is an EMC Distinguished Engineer, holds a Ph. D. in Computer Science from Columbia University in New York, graduated valedictorian with an MBA at the Stern Business School in New York University, and has a Master's and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, in Brazil. Patricia holds multiple patents, and has published extensively in periodicals including Computer Networks and IEEE Proceedings.

Parker Liautaud

Polar explorer and climate change campaigner, Fellow at the Yale Climate & Energy Institute

Parker Liautaud (born August 12th, 1994) is a polar explorer and climate change campaigner, and a Fellow at the Yale Climate & Energy Institute. He has undertaken three expeditions to the North Pole and one to the South Pole. In 2013, Parker completed the fastest human-powered trek from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole, and became the youngest man to walk to the South Pole at the time. Through his expeditions, he has partnered with leading academic institutions, including the International Atomic Energy Agency, GNS New Zealand, and others to conduct research on the climate system. He has also worked closely with the United Nations Foundation on the communication of climate science.

His most recent expedition, the Willis Resilience Expedition, featured a 16-episode live show dedicated to climate change, which hosted 25 debates and discussions on the issue with leading experts from the scientific community, the private sector, NGOs, and government.

Brian Gallagher

President of the Enterprise and Mid-Range Systems Division (EMSD), EMC Corporation

Brian Gallagher is President of the Enterprise and Mid-Range Systems Division (EMSD) for EMC Corporation. With revenues of $23.2 billion in 2013 and more than 62,000 employees worldwide, EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect and analyze their most valuable asset—information—in a more agile, trusted and cost-efficient way.

As President of EMSD, he leads an organization responsible for the architecture, design, development, support and marketing of some of EMC's most innovative and fastest growing products and software, including the award-winning Symmetrix VMAX, VNX, VNXe, and Unisphere technology. Gallagher is also responsible for EMC's Global Database Technology Strategy and EMC’s Big Data Research Labs in Brazil and Russia.

Prior to this role, Gallagher served as President of the Enterprise Storage Division, having led the development of the EMC Direct Matrix (DMX) and Virtual Matrix Architecture (VMAX), the basis for the market leading Symmetrix storage systems, which are the most powerful, trusted, and intelligent storage systems. Gallagher spent 13 years as Vice President and then Senior Vice President of the Symmetrix Product Group, responsible for the hardware, software, quality assurance, and e-Lab organizations, including the development of mainframe and open systems host applications. As one of EMC’s longest-serving employees, Gallagher has been with EMC for more than 28 years and has been developing advanced information storage products for three decades. Prior to joining EMC, he developed storage products for Wang Laboratories' VS Systems.

Gallagher received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has also been awarded 23 U.S. patents.

David Menninger

Head of Business Development and Strategy, Pivotal

David Menninger is the head of business development and strategy for Pivotal, a subsidiary of EMC. He is responsible for charting the big data course and future direction of the division as well as developing partnerships to maximize the value of big data to EMC's customers. Most recently, David served as VP and Research Director for Ventana Research covering big data, analytics, and information management. Prior to joining Ventana Research, he served as VP of Marketing and Product Management at Vertica Systems, Oracle, Applix, InforSense and IRI Software helping to create over three quarter billion dollars of shareholder value while in these roles.
