EMC VisualSRM Software Wins Top Honors from Network Computing Magazine

VisualSRM Recognized Above Five Competing Products for Ease of Configuration, Broad Platform Support and Excellent Analytic Capabilities

Hopkinton, Mass., Wednesday, June 21, 2006 -

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), the world leader in information management and storage, today announced that VisualSRM™, EMC’s storage resource management (SRM) solution for mid-size customers, has earned Network Computing magazine’s coveted “Editor’s Choice” in a June 2006, competitive review of six SRM software suites.

The article states, “Our Editor’s Choice, EMC’s VisualSRM 1.7, excels in its analytical abilities, yet remains easy to configure and supports a broad range of platforms.”

The complete article entitled “Review: Storage Resource Management Suites: A Cure for the Terrible Terabytes” can be found at: www.networkcomputing.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleId=188501102.

VisualSRM earned the “Editor’s Choice” over five competing products from Symantec, CA, TekTools, Northern Parklife and NTP Software. EMC’s solution was lauded in the article “because of its impressive ease of use, automated management and ability to create a customized dashboard so each user can see the most relevant data at a glance.”

“This recognition gives validation to EMC’s award-winning technology and design leadership in storage resource management software,” said Chris Gahagan, Senior Vice President, Resource Management, EMC Software Group. “Thousands of our mid-size customers use VisualSRM’s comprehensive toolset for active data management, reporting and trending, providing live analysis of resource usage down to the file level. VisualSRM enables administrators to efficiently manage heterogeneous storage and server resources.”

VisualSRM provides a powerful visualization tool to help increase capacity utilization and availability in mid-size, multi-vendor storage environments. VisualSRM is an easy-to-use automated tool that enables storage managers to implement best practices and view summary and file-level detail. Supported operating systems include Microsoft Windows, Netware, Linux, Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX. Designed for mid-size environments, VisualSRM complements the EMC ControlCenter® family of enterprise-class SRM software.

EMC offers the industry’s broadest SRM and SAN management software portfolio, ranging from EMC VisualSRM SMB Edition, part of the EMC Insignia line of products for small and medium businesses, to the Visual family for mid-size environments and EMC ControlCenter for enterprises with large, complex information infrastructures.

Two EMC Smarts Products Also Honored

EMC announced that two of its other resource management software products also were recently honored by an industry publication. In May 2006, Communications Solutions magazine recognized both EMC Smarts® IP Availability Manager and EMC Smarts MPLS Manager as 2005 Product of the Year Award winners. According to the publication, the products were lauded for “going the extra mile to help improve both the customer experience and the ROI for the companies that use them.” The complete article and list of award winners can be found at: http://news.tmcnet.com/news/2006/05/08/1641034.htm.
