EMC Expands Partner Services Network

Qualified Channel Partners Now Authorized to Deliver CLARiiON Professional Services

Hopkinton,, Tuesday, January 20, 2004 -

EMC Corporation today announced an expansion of the EMC Authorized Services Network (ASN) that gives a wide range of mid-market resellers and system integrators the ability to offer professional services for storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) implementations based on EMC's leading CLARiiON storage systems and software.

Over the past year, EMC has significantly increased its investment in programs designed to help channel partners more easily and efficiently offer the industry's most extensive portfolio of mid-tier storage solutions. In 2003, EMC introduced the Velocity Partner Program, enabling EMC and its channel partners to work more closely and better address new and underserved markets. EMC is further strengthening those relationships by including qualified Velocity Partners in its Authorized Services Network and providing access to EMC intellectual property, training, mentoring and licensed service delivery methodologies for a range of CLARiiON-based SAN and NAS professional services.

Partners that qualify for this new tier of the EMC ASN will complete a comprehensive EMC Proven Professional training program. The training program will prepare resellers and integrators to offer competitively priced, high-demand services including; implementing and integrating CLARiiON in SAN and NAS environments, the configuration of EMC PowerPath software for single and multiple servers and the custom installation and configuration of the data replication capabilities of EMC SnapView software.

"We're seeing significant demand from customers looking to move to a storage networking environment and quickly capitalize on the cost efficiencies and benefits of SANs and NAS," said Terry Slack, Vice President, Product Marketing and Business Development at Midrange Computer Solutions, Inc. (MCSI), an EMC ASN partner. "Through EMC's ASN, we're able to offer customers a complete package of technology and services that allows us to add the most value when addressing a customer's business requirements. Only a world-class vendor like EMC offers us this opportunity, and it's further proof of the strength of the relationship we have with EMC."

The new services will be available to qualified partners worldwide. An initial group of EMC ASN Focus-tier partners are offering these services through a U.S. pilot project begun in 2003. They include: I-Access (Virginia), Global Data Systems (Louisiana), Midrange Computer Solutions, Inc. (Illinois), Modcomp, Inc. (Florida), NEXL Network Systems (Mass.), Plan B Technologies (Maryland), SARCOM, Inc. (Ohio), and Wareforce (California).

Gregg Ambulos, EMC's Vice President of Global Channels, added, "One of the reasons for the rapid adoption of the CLARiiON platform has been its industry-leading features and functionality. These new partner-delivered services will help customers quickly and cost-effectively address their most pressing requirements - from high availability to business continuity. Our partners each bring something unique to the table. Combining EMC technology and services with the specialties of our Velocity partners will allow EMC to further expand into new and previously untapped markets."
