EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) today announced that at 10:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March18, 2015, Krish Gupta, SVP and Deputy General Counsel at EMC, will testify at a hearing before the Unites States Senate, Committee on the Judiciary, on a panel of invited experts. The hearing will examine “The Impact of Abusive Patent Litigation Practices on the American Economy.” Just last month, Gupta testified on this matter as part of an invited panel before the United States House of Representatives, Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet.

“Abusive patent litigation is causing billions of dollars in misdirected litigation spending and threatens to undermine the very reason for which the patent system was created – to provide the incentives and protections necessary for innovators to invest in the next new technology that will benefit the American consumer and economy.  EMC urges Congress to pass thoughtful legislation that restores balance and strengthens our patent system so that it can continue to serve as a catalyst for innovation.”
