HOPKINTON, Mass, November 14, 2008 -

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that the Massachusetts Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a U.S. Department of Defense organization, has recognized EMC with their Above and Beyond Award. The Above and Beyond Award honors companies that go above and beyond federal requirements in their support of employees called into active military duty by the National Guard or Reserve.

Almost one-half of the U.S. military is comprised of the National Guard and Reserve. The ESGR's mission is to inform and educate employers about their rights and responsibilities toward employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve and recognize employers, like EMC, who go above and beyond the requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA). This includes continuation of benefits and providing pay differential to help alleviate the financial and emotional hardships that often accompany a reservist's military deployment.

"EMC is proud to be recognized by the Massachusetts Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for our role supporting our employees in the Guard and Reserve," said Jack Mollen, EMC Executive Vice President, Human Resources on receiving the award. "A large number of EMC employees in the United States have served or are serving as citizen soldiers, and we are extremely proud of the bravery and dedication shown by these individuals. We understand the significant financial burden and stress the call into active duty puts on them and their families, and we're committed to support them as they serve our country."

Brian Massey, EMC Solutions Developer, is a Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard with more than 20 years of service who has been deployed in past years. Massey said, "My first concern when facing deployment is always my family, particularly when I have to be away for a long period of time. During these difficult times, EMC has always been there, providing the support that gives me and my family peace of mind about our finances and benefits. This is really important to me and other EMC employees in the Reserve and National Guard."

In a ceremony today, EMC signed a Statement of Support with the ESGR as a symbol of EMC's continued commitment to support its employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.

Earlier in the year, EMC signed important agreements with the Army Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program and with the Army Spouse Employment Partnership (ASEP). The PaYS program provides an opportunity for soldiers to secure quality civilian jobs with U.S. corporations upon completion of their military commitments. The ASEP partnership provides Army spouses the opportunity to attain financial security and employment goals through career mobility and enhances employment options.
