Solution Description
Challenge
Oracle database and application server environments require maximum availability and performance while allowing the flexibility to rapidly provision new servers in production and test and development environments. Maximizing performance and availability in a physical environment requires excess hardware provisioning and involves downtime when provisioning new servers and storage.
Technology Solution
EMC VNX unified storage with VMware provides a consolidated, virtualized server and storage infrastructure for all your Oracle environments. Consolidate production database and application, test, and development servers for higher server and storage utilization, optimized performance, and the ability to provision new servers and storage within minutes and with zero downtime.
EMC fully automated storage tiering (FAST) cache monitors incoming Oracle input/output (I/O) for access frequency and automatically copies frequently accessed data from the back-end drives into the cache. Once data is no longer being accessed it’s automatically migrated to lower-cost online storage.
