Challenge
Deep, business analytics have changed now that there is no longer a need to carefully map out data for efficient querying. With the increase in central processing unit (CPU) processing power, data warehouses are now built around massively parallel processing architectures (MPP), which require the right storage infrastructure to take advantage of this approach.
In addition, new classes of Oracle business intelligence analytics require specialized "parallel everywhere" architectures to deliver the throughput and response time required for data loads and queries in big data environments.
Technology Solution
EMC Global IT faced the challenge of optimizing their Oracle data warehouse while incorporating big data analytics by leveraging EMC Symmetrix VMAX and EMC Greenplum Data Computing Appliance.
EMC designed Symmetrix VMAX to provide the input/output operations per second (IOPS) and bandwidth needed for support of sustained data access rates in Oracle data warehouse MPP environments.
EMC Greenplum MPP scatter/gather streaming technology eliminates the bottlenecks associated with other approaches to data loading, which enables amazingly fast flow of data into the Greenplum database for large-scale analytics and data warehousing.
