Rainer Erlat

Rainer Erlat is Chairman of EMC International. With revenues of $20 billion in 2011 and more than 53,000 people worldwide, EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates he journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect and analyze their most valuable asset – information – in a more agile, trusted, and cost-efficient way. He reports to EMC Vice Chairman Bill Teuber.

Rainer Erlat

As Chairman of EMC International, Erlat is focused on the operating model for EMC’s business in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), looking at every aspect of our internal and external processes with a view to drive accelerated growth in the region. He is also responsible for ensuring that EMC customers and partners benefit from more rapid and consistent processes that are designed with customers and partners in mind.

Previously, Erlat served as President, EMEA. In this role, he led EMC’s EMEA-based sales and services organization. In this role, he was responsible for driving EMC’s growth and continued leadership in established and new markets by delivering and supporting the full range of EMC’s products, services and solutions to organizations across the EMEA region.

An accomplished 25-year veteran of the information technology industry, Rainer Erlat joined EMC in January 2003 from Hewlett-Packard (HP) where he spent 22 years in various customer-facing management positions. Most recently, he was Vice President and General Manager of sales for the EMEA Enterprise Systems Group at HP. Prior to joining HP in 1979, Erlat, a native of Germany, studied general management and organization at the University of Augsburg, Germany.
