EMC Earns Spot on 2012 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America

EMC’s State-of-the-Art Data Center Harnesses the Power of the Cloud to Deliver Cutting-Edge IT Services To Employees Globally

HOPKINTON, MA , September 12, 2012 -

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) today announced that it was named to the InformationWeek 500 for the fifth consecutive year.  The annual list of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology was revealed last night during an awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, Calif.

“We’re ecstatic,” said Sanjay Mirchandani, EMC®’s Chief Information Officer.  “Over the last few years, EMC has tackled numerous enterprise-impacting IT initiatives across our organization – virtualizing our environment, moving into the cloud, revamping our line-of-business systems, and building a new, state-of-the-art cloud data center in Durham, NC.  Together, these initiatives provide EMC with the IT foundation to support our business today and as we continue to grow for the future.  This award is testament to our team’s continued hard work and innovation.”

EMC has been designated one of the top 250 companies by InformationWeek for its continued pursuit in pushing the boundaries of IT innovation.  A shining example of this is EMC’s world-class, highly virtualized cloud data center, in Durham, NC.  Built on an x86 enterprise architecture and leveraging EMC, VCE, and VMware technologies, EMC’s Durham data center is a showcase of how to drive operational efficiency and excellence by rationalizing, consolidating and virtualizing data centers en route to the cloud.

“The InformationWeek 500 has recognized the most innovative users of business technology for 24 years, and this year’s innovations were particularly impressive,” said InformationWeek Editor-In-Chief Rob Preston. “What the editors looked for are unconventional approaches—new technologies, new models, new ways of grabbing business opportunities and solving complex business problems with IT.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Past overall winners include PACCAR Inc., The Vanguard Group, CME Group, National Semiconductor, Con-Way, and Principal Financial Group. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
