Joe M.
Director of Technology Education Certification

"Whether it’s finding a creative solution to a problem or staying current on technology, I’m always learning," says Joe. Joe leads EMC’s major training and certification program for hardware and software. He oversees 60 technical solutions education consultants who teach EMC employees, partners, and customers.

New employees participate in a month-long training process—in the classroom and via e-learning. "It’s intense," said Korbin H., who recently completed the class. "Even after you’re finished, you still get questions you can’t answer." Before consultants are ready to spread their EMC wings, their knowledge is assessed with Proven Professional certification. Joe is a chief architect in this newly implemented accreditation program.

Why Joe joined EMC

The learning doesn’t stop once you leave the EMC classroom. Even after seven years in the industry, Joe is still expanding his horizons, and has held various positions in technical sales. "EMC employees are very driven. They’re continually developing new skills in order to lead the latest advances," says Joe.

In such a fast-paced industry, it’s not enough to keep current with new trends. It’s about applying that thinking and unearthing new ideas. "Unique solutions are always in demand," says Joe. Clients’ needs are rarely the same, and different variables influence technology at every stage in the process.

Want to work for Joe as a technical education solutions consultant?

It’s beneficial to develop expertise in at least one hardware or software product line, whether it’s from EMC or another company. And being an independent thinker and a good communicator will work to your advantage in the field.
