For EMC to sustain its success, we must continue to innovate. To support our focus on innovation, we are expanding our Research and Development (R&D) Centers of Excellence (COEs) around the world. We make strategic, forward-thinking acquisitions to expand and strengthen our business. And, we have talented people across the company with innovative ideas who, when connected with each other, can advance the company in exciting new ways.

The EMC Innovation Network capitalizes on these global investments and is an essential layer of our innovation strategy. Its goal is to connect thought leaders across the company around research and innovation, particularly in relation to our university partners. EMC researchers collaborate with leading institutions around the world to explore new trends and disruptive technologies.

The university professors and students help us expand our knowledge of these topics, and our technologists apply what they learn to the development of EMC solutions. Thus, the Innovation Network drives the exploration, discovery, and application of new technologies that will shape future information infrastructures.

How it works

Small teams at our R&D centers identify research projects in our company’s strategic growth areas. They collaborate closely on this research with university partners who have expertise in these areas, as well as the relevant business units within EMC. The knowledge acquired through this research—and the connections with the research community—informs our products, solutions, and corporate acquisitions.
